PROMISED LAND HORSES
Geldings Anton-This
willing 7 year old gelding will be a fortunate someone's best
friend. He has been trained to drive
single and for trail riding. Kristen rode him regularly and
says he improves each time they go out together.
This past winter some of our geldings have spent time with a local trainer learning new skills. They all experienced riding and driving under his experienced hand. They are all in the 56" to 58" range. Let us introduce you to our boys: Duke 5/14/07 A quiet fellow, a prospect for that unflappable mature gelding everyone wants to buy and no one is willing to sell. Sire-Nuisance, Dam-Sharhara WKH 57 1/2" 8/2011-Duke is spending the summer with an Amish friend who is driving him on his lawnmower to cut the yard and small orchard. The are both having a good time together and Duke is "better than a Grasshopper mower".
Freedom 7/2/06 A red horse with a real work ethic. The trainer said, "This is a horse I would choose for work." Sire-Alpha Blue, Dam-Mai Marie by Wibo 56"
Lore 5/26/06 An easy going , people oriented guy from a family of friendly horses. He wants to please. Sire-Alpha Blue, Dam-Liz by Wise Cracker NTF 58"

Hi Paul and Sue,
I just want to let you know Lore is doing
awesome. He is such a good boy
The kids absolutely love him. 3 of my 7
grandchildren were on him the other day while I walked him around the pasture.
He is just absolutely amazing,
Thanks again, Dorie
Candyman Can 5/19/06 This gelding can move out in style. Visitors pick him out and want to know "who's that one?" Judges would ask the same question! He lives up to his name. Quiet around the barn. Sire-Alpha Blue, Dam-Cotton-Candy by Wise Cracker 58"
Allegro 5/18/05 The Golden Boy, friendly, flashy, forward. Looking for his own person. Sire-Alpha Blue, Dam-Anna of PLF by Marvellon.
8/2011 Training report after two and a half weeks Hello Sue~
Here is what we have done and are currently working on;
~he stands quietly for grooming and tacking, administering of
fly spray and sponge baths
~he picks up all 4 feet; we are currently working on
lengthening the time he holds them up
~he walks and trots over tarps and ground
poles under saddle and on the line
~ he lunges pretty well (we are working on changing directions)
~walking and trotting under saddle
and gaining confidence daily! He is rather laid back
under saddle and I think with some more mileage he'd do well for a beginner in
the future.
~he is now moving off of leg pressure with a much quicker
response time
~we will be doing more trail riding
this week (we keep getting rained out)
If there is something specific that you would like us to work
on, let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep working on my list.
Just a note- Allegro is VERY responsive in an
english
bitless bridle; if I owned him, I
don't think that I would ever bother putting him in a bit, even for shows!
Also, he has lost a little of the extra weight- I can now find his withers!
Also, you may want to note that he has a VERY comfortable trot to sit.
He has become quite affectionate with me and enjoys all the
attention that he is getting. Rachel
One Month training report Very pretty, good natured, laidback, smart and sensitive, this boy could do anything with the right person to call his own! Allegro is a 6 year old Registered Haflinger gelding who drives and is greenbroke to ride. He was Amish trained to drive and lightly started under saddle as a 4 ½ year old. He is currently undergoing more serious riding training. He has been sacked out and lunged. He walks/trots/canters under saddle and has been ridden on trails and along the road. He has been over a few cross rails as well. He is doing very well under saddle, but he is still green, so an experienced rider is recommended until he has a bit more mileage. A confident beginner under the tutelage of a trainer or an instructor would be fine as well. He would make a wonderful driving horse, trail buddy or show pony. He’d be great for a 4-H student that is looking for a training prospect. He is easygoing enough to be a beginner’s horse in the future and can carry a heavier rider. Allegro gets along well with mares, geldings and stallions on turnout. Rachel
Mares
Candy Kisses of PLF Candy is trained to drive. She has also been started in riding. This 9 year old is sired by Marquis APF and out of our Cotton-Candy mare, a very consistent brood mare. Her '08 filly by Amtsrat caught the eye of a lady interested in getting started in Haflingers and now this promising filly lives in eastern New York. Candy helped with spring
work at an Amish farm and received high marks for her willing work in front of
the plow.
